Among the first boats registered for the 76th edition are the winner of the 2025 Gargnano Trophy, QFX (the first Saturday event), the new Croatian Code X, several protagonists from the Garda fleets, and a crew led by world champion and five-time Olympian Hans Spitzauer.

Gargnano, August 5, 2026 – One month before the start, the 76th International CentoMiglia del Garda is beginning to take shape, with a fleet in which Garda tradition, innovative designs and international experience are set to meet along the course of the great classic race organized by the Circolo Vela Gargnano. The event is scheduled for Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September. The first day will be dedicated to the Gargnano Trophy, while Sunday will see the 60th Riccardo Gorla Trophy take place. The sum of the ORC overall standings from the two days will determine the final CentoMiglia classification, with no discard. An ORC Double Handed ranking is also planned for two-person crews.
Among the most anticipated entries is the return of QFX, SUI 1, skippered by Thomas Jundt under the colors of the Société Nautique de Genève. The Swiss boat comes off the back of its most important result to date — winning the Gargnano Trophy and taking line honours at the Gargnano Trophy during the 75th CentoMiglia, on the first of the two race days. QFX is a prototype built for lake racing, featuring a high-performance-oriented configuration and a crew that includes sailors with extensive experience in Lake Geneva’s major events, including the Bol d’Or Mirabaud.
Making its CentoMiglia debut, meanwhile, is Code X CROZ, CRO 3001, skippered by Filip Jurišić. It is one of the pre-registered boats generating the most curiosity. It is a light, very powerful boat, developed for high-performance offshore and coastal racing. In images released by the team, it also stands out for its foils/appendages and a particularly modern design concept. Last June, Code X took part in the Sušac 100×2, the demanding Adriatic doublehanded race, finishing fourth in real time.
Another name of international standing appears on the crew list of GER 244, entered by the Bayerischer Yacht Club. On board will be Hans Spitzauer, Finn world champion in 1995 and a competitor at five editions of the Olympic Games between 1988 and 2008, first in the Finn class and later in the Star. His record also includes a fourth-place finish at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, world and European medals in the Finn, and Star world championship bronze won in 2021. The boat is a 45 qm Nationaler Kreuzer, a historic class from the Austro-German area, elegant in its lines but still extremely competitive today.

From Germany, Unchained Lady, GER 26, will also try racing again — after breaking its mast during the training day before the last edition. She is Wolfgang Palm’s Wilke 26, flying the colors of the Yacht Club Langenargen. Compact, light, and designed for inland waters, she has already taken part in numerous races on Lake Constance and in long-distance competitions such as the Silverrudder Challenge of the Sea. Her characteristics make her a particularly interesting boat when the wind is variable, and the ability to maintain speed during lulls becomes decisive.

The Garda fleets are also well represented. The Circolo Vela Gargnano will be present with Achab, ITA 115, helmed by Luca Nassin. Last year’s CentoMiglia saw him take second place in one of the two races in the ORC M1 grouping. Among the Dolphin 81s is also Cattiva Compagnia, ITA 29, owned by Fabio Pizzolon of Fraglia Vela Desenzano. The boat has already taken part in the 75th CentoMiglia and boasts a long history of activity in the Garda one-design circuit. The local contingent also includes Nonsissamai, ITA 37, owned by Andrea Sissa, flying the colors of Fraglia Vela Gabriele D’Annunzio. The Protagonist 7.50 has been a fixture in Garda racing for many years.
From the Lega Navale Italiana di Mandello del Lario, Pirillina, ITA 25296, is expected, entrusted to the Fasoli family. It is a Platu 25 with a competitive history dating back at least to the mid-2000s, and which, in last year’s edition, won the Double Handed ranking. Also pre-registered in the same category is Spirito Libero, a modified Protagonist owned by the Bazzoli family, which will race with a father-and-son crew, just like Pirillina.
Rounding out this initial picture is ITA 5, entered by Mario Gerardo Benuzzi for SkipperClub SSD, alongside Achab and the other Italian and foreign crews already registered. These also include several Melges 24s and Melges 32s, one-designs that could play an important role in the ORC standings, as demonstrated by the recent Transbenaco, in which they took the top positions.
These early entries paint the picture of a CentoMiglia capable of bringing together very different boats: from the most innovative prototypes to the leading one-designs of Garda racing, all the way to the elegant traditional classes from the lakes of Central Europe. This technical and sporting variety has always been one of the distinctive traits of the race born in Gargnano in 1951. Registration remains open until September 1st. The list is therefore set to grow further in the coming weeks, as the fleet approaches the weekend of September 5-6 and the start of the 76th International CentoMiglia del Garda.
