LAST EDITION’S NUMBERS CONFIRMED WITH OVER 100 ENTRIES INCLUDING MULTICENTO AND CENTOPEOPLE, PLUS POSSIBLE LATE ENTRIES
September 4 opens with the Regata Homerus and the Cento Junior, along with a highly interesting talk show featuring leading names from the world of sailing; Saturday 5 the Trofeo Gargnano and Sunday 6 the Trofeo Gorla. The list updated to September 2 counts over 100 boats in all, with 12 Double Handed crews and 4 boats in the new ORC Classic division. Multicento and Cento People will also be on the water. Among the protagonists QFX, Jo Richards, Roberto Benamati on the Cape 31 Milkwave, the Asso 99s and the large and competitive Dolphin 81 fleet with 22 boats.

Gargnano, 2 September 2026: Only a few days remain until the 76th CentoMiglia Internazionale del Garda, and in the lake’s harbours the anticipation is giving way to the final preparations. From Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September, the event organised by the Circolo Vela Gargnano on behalf of the Italian Sailing Federation will bring together the great ORC regatta, the Multicento reserved for multihulls, the Cento People, the youth sailing of the Cento Junior and the inclusive experience of the Regata Homerus, accompanying the sporting programme with three days of shoreside events at Bogliaco.
The on-the-water programme will begin on Friday 4 September at 9:00 with the Regata Homerus, a match race in the waters off Bogliaco dedicated to sailing for the blind. At 13:00 it will be the turn of the Cento Junior, the CentoMiglia for the youngest sailors, with Optimists and RS Fevas competing on the course between Gargnano and Villa. On Saturday the event will get fully under way at 8:30 with the Trofeo Gargnano, on the course Bogliaco, Gargnano, Desenzano (a little further north than usual due to the passage of the Frecce Tricolori) and back to Bogliaco, while at 9:30 the second day of the Cento Junior will be held. On Sunday, again at 8:30, the Trofeo Gorla will start, taking the fleet northwards past Limone, Torbole and Malcesine, in the locality of Navene (new for 2026), before returning to Bogliaco. At 9:00 the Cento People will also start, a non-competitive sailing event dedicated to sailing schools, charters, families and enthusiasts. The CentoMiglia confirms the formula introduced last year and further refined for 2026. The Trofeo Bettoni will go to the winner of the final ORC Overall standings, determined by the sum of the results of the Trofeo Gargnano and the Trofeo Gorla, with no discard. For the calculation of corrected times the ORC All Purpose Time on Time system will be used, while the Line Honours will remain for the first boats across the finish line in real time on the two days. A specific ranking is also reserved for Double Handed crews, who will compete for the Trofeo Beppe Croce.
The provisional list updated to 2 September counts 95 boats entered in the 76th CentoMiglia in ORC, with the possibility that at least a couple more crews may still be added. Of these, 12 will race Double Handed and 4 in the ORC Classic division, with the Meteor Alisea 2.0 being both Classic and X2.
Particularly significant is the presence of the Garda fleets, with 22 Dolphin 81s and 14 Asso 99s. The list also includes some boats still waiting to complete the ORC certificate process, thus leaving the final picture of entries open. At present, however, there are five boats in total entered between Multicento and Cento People, with the possibility of further sign-ups in the final days. Among the boats already entered, QFX SUI 1 of Thomas Jundt returns, winner in 2025 of the Trofeo Gargnano and of the related Line Honour. We will also see again Idefix of Marco Cavallini, fourth in the ORC Overall standings of the 75th CentoMiglia, and Lexotan of Giovanni Montresor, fifth overall last year. The Garda fleets also include Assterisco and S&You, winners in 2025 among the Asso 99s and the Dolphin 81s respectively.
2026 also brings back to the starting line some protagonists linked in different ways to the history of the CentoMiglia. Jo Richards, Olympic bronze medallist in the Flying Dutchman at Los Angeles 1984 and overall winner of the 2009 CentoMiglia with Full Pelt, returns together with Leo Larcher with Tigger, an RS21 heavily modified to compete in ORC. On board the Cape 31 Milkwave of Alessandro Lotto and Flavio Campana will instead be Roberto Benamati, thirteen-time winner of the CentoMiglia in the various roles he has held on board. The Cape 31 also comes off a win in ORC 3 at the Trofeo Conde de Godó in Barcelona. Among the Asso 99s, König Ludwig of Prince Luitpold von Bayern is expected, with a crew that includes the Los Angeles 1984 FD Olympic silver medallist Evert Bastet and the former German downhill racer Max Rauffer, a World Cup winner on the Saslong. The list also includes the Ultimate 30 Banda Larga of Stefano Beltrando, arriving from Lake Maggiore, and Sub Vento Libertas, an Este 35 linked to the Doppiavela Solidale project. Among the pre-entered boats there are also two returns that tell the story of lake sailing: René Raffica HUN 89, formerly René Lezard and four-time consecutive winner of the Rund Um on Lake Constance between 1992 and 1995, and the historic Grifo, back on the water after major conversion work.
THE CENTOMIGLIA IS ALSO ASHORE
Throughout the weekend Piazza di Bogliaco will be the meeting point for crews, public and enthusiasts, with music, shows, food trucks, DJ sets and moments dedicated to the protagonists of the regatta. On Friday the programme includes the talk show at 17:30 with prominent guests: expected to be confirmed are the Vice-President of the Italian Sailing Federation Giuseppe D’Amico; the Olympic bronze medallist and past winner of a Centomiglia with Full Pelt, Jo Richards, taking part in the 76th Centomiglia with a modified RS 21; the journalist and voice of SailGP on Sky Stefano Vegliani; Luciano Levi, a multi-titled sailor and one of the leading expert builders of masts for boats, as well as for many years President of the Circolo Vela Gargnano (mid-1980s); and Nicola Sironi, an international reference point on the Rules and the highest Italian authority in this field, being ORC Vice-Chief Measurer (the “handicap” system also adopted at the CentoMiglia), with family roots in Gargnano.
He has family roots in Gargnano, to which he is very attached. This will be followed by the opening ceremony with the raising of the flags of the Nations, followed in the evening by the show Divalicious, “The hits that made history”.
On Saturday, among the most eagerly awaited guests, there will be Omar Pedrini, singer-songwriter and historic frontman of Timoria, who in the afternoon will be the protagonist of a musical performance accompanying the return of the Trofeo Gargnano crews. The day will continue with food trucks, DJ sets, Golden Hour and, in the evening, the tribute to Vasco Rossi by the cover band Bollicine. On Sunday, music and activities in the square will accompany the wait for the final arrivals and the closing prize-giving ceremony.
The regatta can also be followed by those who will not be on Lake Garda in person: during the two days there will be updates, images, videos and live contributions on the social channels of the Circolo Vela Gargnano and of the CentoMiglia, with links from the water. Kwindoo GPS tracking will also be available, with the possibility of following the position of the boats during the Trofeo Gargnano and the Trofeo Gorla.
The 76th CentoMiglia Internazionale del Garda is organised by the Circolo Vela Gargnano on behalf of the Italian Sailing Federation, with the support of the FIV Zone XIV Committee and with the collaboration of the clubs and sailing organisations of the three shores of Lake Garda, a movement that once again contributes to the staging of an event capable of involving the entire lake, embracing Lombardy, Trentino and Veneto.
